Versatile Performer-Exploring Key Industrial Applications of NP Ether

Polyoxyethylene nonylphenol ether (NPEs), often known by trade names like NP-4, NP-9 or NP-40, is a versatile, nonionic surfactant used widely for its emulsifying, wetting, and dispersing properties in industrial cleaning, paints, pesticides, and textiles. These compounds, generally CAS 9016-45-9, effectively lower surface tension.

3. Applications

Used as emulsifier, washing agent, wetting agent, penetrating agent, dispersing agent, degreasing agent, refining agent and chemical intermediate in the industry.

Key Applications and Properties

Industrial & Household Cleaning: Used as detergents and cleaning agents in both domestic and industrial applications.

Textiles and Coatings: Functions as a detergent in wool spinning and a dispersion agent in water-based paints.

Agricultural and Chemical: Serves as an emulsifier for pesticides and a stabilizer for latex or colloidal particles.

Chemical Stability: Exhibits high stability against acids, alkalis, and oxidizers.

4. Package and Storage

Package: (NP 4~21): 1000Kg/ IBC drum or 200Kg / metal drum (Net weight).

(NP 40) 25Kg / kraft bag (Net weight).

Shelf Life: two years.

5. Physical Characteristics

Appearance: Typically a colorless to slightly amber/orange oily liquid or waxy solid.

Structure: Composed of nonylphenol and an ethylene oxide chain, which determines its hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB).

6. Safety and Hazards

Health Hazards: Harmful if swallowed; causes serious eye damage and mild skin irritation.

Environmental Hazards: Highly toxic to aquatic environments with long-lasting effects.

Handling: Requires proper protective equipment (gloves, goggles) and, in case of inhalation or contact, immediate medical attention.
